Mexico Mission Trip

Dear Family & Friends,

After years of prayer and consideration, God has given our family the opportunity to participate on Mission trip to Texcoco, Mexico with Salem Heights Church, July 14 – 25, 2011. For our family, we have decided that just Beth and Jonah (11 yr old) will go this year. Beth is a bilingual teacher and Jonah has been studying Spanish for 6 years in a Dual Language Program at Harritt Elementary School in Salem, Oregon. We have been prayfully considering this trip for many years. Many years ago, Dave and Beth had the opportunity to travel with the youth group from Salem Heights to another part of Mexico. Actually, we went one year when we were pregnant with Jonah and one year when he was 6 months old. This will be a different trip, consisting of one family, a few partial families, a few college age students and a few high school students. We will be lead by our Pastor of Family Life and Counseling, Carl Chica. The team we will be working with will serve the people of Texcoco with spiritual care, Vacation Bible School, and various other projects.

We are writing to ask you to prayerfully consider joining our team through your support. First, please partner with me in praying for the people we will be serving, for our health and effectiveness as team members, and for the many details of this trip. Also, being a few of the bilingual team members, Jonah and Beth know they will be used greatly in the area of language and need to be bold. We look forward to see how God uses us and prepares us for this trip.

Second, please consider supporting us financially for this outreach. The cost of this two-week trip is $3000 for the two together. Because of the prices in airfare being at a better price right now, we could really use at least $600 by February 1st.
